Very loaded chapter in Alma

Alma 29 has moved from being 'the one that annoying song is written about' to something much deeper and interesting.

1. Alma suggests that there is a difference between Angels and Men (verses 1-3). This isn't surprising; he'd seen an angel. And he had specifically been commanded to take note of the power that angel held. Remember, that angel asked him to notice how his voice shook the earth. What is an angel? Teachers in the church seem to be suggesting the idea of all of us acting as ministering angels, which is fine, but that's not to be confused with Real angels.

2. God has decreed a firm decree, and alotted unto men something unalterable: They will be granted according to their desires, or in other words, Agency. Alma's biggest obstacle to getting his wish is that God will not change His mind on the subject of agency.

3. Alma prays that something may be according to his words (last verse). When a prophet does that, it either means it's a very sincere prayer (which all of us can do) or it means he's sealing something on the earth and in heaven. We don't have record of any other prophet in the Book of Mormon being given that sealing power except for Nephi (Helaman 10), but this verse suggests otherwise.
